A Christian View 2022 - #19

Traversing the coming months from now to December promises to be a daunting task.

There’s so much trauma, trouble and tragedy to distract our faith, desensitize our souls and detour our future.

The war in Ukraine, the war in our culture, the war in the heavenly realms - sometimes it all feels like too much!

We are not given the “Ostrich Option” - to bury our heads in the sand and hope it simply and suddenly goes away!

The Christian context for 2022 is set in a prophetic view that is reassuring, redemptive and resting in a living hope that is anchored in the promises of God.

Prophecy? There are so many interpretations, so many different, sometimes contradictory, opinions and schools of opinion.

There are overarching themes that embrace and frame the big picture.

A. Christ will return

There is great debate and diversity of view as to when - it has become an eschatological enigma - but agreement reaches a consensus - Christ will return to earth again.

2022 is a stage-setting year! In human terms every thing is falling apart; but from prophecy’s point of view, everything is beginning to fall into place.

B. Christ will reign

History seems to be held hostage by satanic strategy and sadistic psychopaths.

The Book of Revelation gives the ultimate universal proclamation captured by Handel’s Messiah- Hallelujah Chorus:

Revelation 12:15

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

Putin will join the ranks of fallen kings and deposed despots and dictators. What a sad lot for those who sought to steal the Lord’s crown and usurp the Eternal throne of the Most High.

The Christian view of 2022 sees no victory for Vladimir Putin. His Anti-Christ, Anti-Semitic knees will bow and his tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

C. Christ will restore.

So much has been lost in the Fall. The present Order does not come close to God’s original purpose for either the people or planet of earth.

The Almighty Architect has creative, Christ-centric designs for this Universe where creation will be sovereignly controlled, Satan crushed and His Son crowned.

John joins the the theme of the prophets who predict the perfect day …

Revelation 21:3-5 NLT

I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

2022 is another year that brings us closer to the blessed hope. Each month that passes brings the Devil closer to his doom. Every week that ends brings the church closer to her destiny. Every day that sees the sun set over the western horizon is just one more day closer to the day when there will be no more sunsets and no more night.

Even so come quickly Lord Jesus!
