Miraculous - now that’s a word inherent at the very core of Christmas. There can be no mistake - without miracles there can be no Christmas.

Not fantasies like the secular stories of gravity defying reindeer and a chimney sliding holly jolly Santa.

No … I mean a bonafide, biblical, act of God that either suspends or supersedes the natural order of events.

- The Miracle of God’s mortality.

- Jehovah set aside the natural conception of Mary’s First Born Son - He was born of the Virgin and the Eternal became mortal. There’s a miracle in the manger.

- The Miracle of God’s manuscripts

- Jehovah puts His word in the mouth of the Prophets. The Advent gets advanced announcements. It’s nothing short of miraculous to see the fulfilment of the century old promises converging in the Christmas story.

- The Miracle of God’s message

- Jehovah dispatches angels to the Shepherds of Bethlehem. It was a message for sinners… a message of redemption and reconciliation. It’s all, well … miraculous.

What about you and me?

Is your life crying for a miracle from God?

Does your burden exceed your ability to carry?

Does the brokenness exceed your ability to fix?

Hear this hymn of Hope …

“It took a miracle to put the stars in place

It took a miracle to hang the world in space

But when He saved my soul

Cleansed and made me whole

It took a miracle of love and grace.”

The Miracle of Christmas has become the seed that has harvested millions of miraculous rescues from the kingdom of darkness and the depths of despair!

You might say: “it would take a miracle for me to …”

This is the brilliance of Bethlehem’s Son -

He has brought the miraculous to men, the impossible to earth, the glory of heaven down to the “ordinary and common” of this world.

Immanuel- God with us - means that miracles are in our realm and within our reach.

It’s not too late, too far, too much, too big, too bad … no, this is the season of miracles - when the hopes are realized, dreams come true and the most unlikely becomes reality.

We can so sanitize and sterilize the nativity that we humanize the holy, marginalize miracles and diminish the Divine.

But let me remind you of the God Incarnate, The Maker in the manger for whom nothing is impossible.

Wouldn’t it be just like Him to do it again - release His Dunamis power into your darkness, into your disease, into your deep hurt and manifest His miraculous ministry of grace on your behalf!

Merry Christmas !!
